Sunday Worship at Prairie Lane

So, you've found our website, and you're a bit curious. But, going to a new place for the first time can be rather intimidating. What should I wear? How is the parking? Where do I go? What do I do with the kids? We've all been there before too. We want you to feel comfortable attending Prairie Lane Church. Read on to help you get an idea of what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Preparing to Come:

Wear what makes you comfortable.  At Prairie Lane, you will find a wide variety of styles, but probably most people wear business casual.  And, you don't need to take anything with you--come just yourself, or bring along your family or a friend.

You can find a map and directions right here.  Most people arrive about 5-10 minutes before church begins.

Sunday School at 9:30AM
  • We offer Sunday school classes during the school year for children (beginning with pre-school), youths and adults.  Click here for more details about the classes.
  • At 10:15 the classes will finish up and coffee and treats will be available in the Fellowship Hall. These 15 minutes before worship can be used for socializing with other attenders with some free coffee or sitting quietly in the Worship center preparing for the coming worship service.
Worship Service at 10:30AM

There are two parking lots with plenty of spaces, one on each side of the church (but only the south lot has handicapped access).  Both parking lots are near the main doors that enter into our lobby area.  Here, you will be first greeted with a smile.  Our bathrooms (including a unisex family bathroom) are located here.  Feel free to grab a cup of coffee as you head toward the double doors leading into the worship center.  Get a bulletin from the usher, who can help you find a place to sit.

If you have children, you are welcome to take them into worship with you.  But, for young children (3 and under) you can also use our free nursery by following the signs upstairs. Our nursery is staffed by approved adult volunteers with teenage helpers. During check-in you and your child will receive matching wristbands. During pick-up, please present your wristband to a nursery volunteer. Only a person with a matching wristband will be allowed to pick up your child from the nursery. This is to ensure your child's safety and your peace of mind.

Typically on a Sunday morning, we have around 120 people of all ages come.  Since we aren't a real large church, many people will probably notice you are new--but that's fine, we love having visitors!

Our Worship Services:

Our Sunday morning worship typically about an hour in length and includes singing a variety of hymns and praise songs, lead by our praise team.  The words are on a screen for everyone to follow along, and during some songs everyone is asked to stand.  Near the beginning of the service, we take a couple of minutes to greet one another.

Most of our services will include a children's sermon for ages 3-9.  They are invited up front, if they want, for a brief object lesson.  After the children's message children ages 3- 1st grade can go to a children's worship class (room located near the lobby, downstairs) for material more relevant to their age.

Our services also include a Bible-based sermon about 25 minutes long  and times of confession and prayer.  We do take two offerings each Sunday, one for our church, and another for a ministry we support.  Visitors should feel no obligation to give money.  Everyone is invited to fill out a communication card giving us some information about you that you can place in the offering bag.  If so, we will send you a follow-up letter later in the week.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper once a month during our service.  The Bible teaches that this sacrament of the church is for believers.  Guests that already belong to another Christian church are welcome to participate with us, if they want.

When Church is Done:

Around 11:30am, we sing our final song and then you're dismissed.  We are always happy to have visitors worship with us, and we hope to see you again!  Often, on the first Sunday of the month, everyone is welcome to stay for a free lunch.  Sometimes after the service an orientation class or membership class is offered.

Please feel free to email us if you have any questions.
